The use of open source software is an ideal match for eParticipation and creates an open and transparent ecosystem: open debate, open decision making process, open data and open software. Since its initial deployment in the City of Trikala and via additional deployments in the Cities of Thessaloniki and Arta as well as the Prefecture of Samos, our eDialogos platform has grown and matured: we have taken user feedback into account, developed new advanced features and adopted a Web2.0 approach for collaboration and interaction.

As we have announced in the 2010 Greek Open Source Community conference, we have decided to release an open source version of eDialogos for use by the public. We are in the process of determining licensing conditions and features to be included, so more details are soon to follow: the timeframe for the release has been set by the end of 2010, so stay tuned!
